General Support - How to handle new firmwares on a live-CD?

Titel: How to handle new firmwares on a live-CD?
Hi,

I try to use a Moka DVB-T stick (MK-DVBT-UB2) with the 2006-01-RC4 live-CD. (Digital Terrestrial TV)

It 'almost' works :
the 'lsusb' gives me :
Code:

$ lsusb
Bus 004 Device 003: ID 14aa:022a AVerMedia (again) or C&E'
...

but 'dmesg' tells me the system can't find the requested firmware :
Code:

$ dmesg
...
dvb-usb: found a 'WideView WT-220U PenType Receiver (based on ZL353)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
dvb-usb: did not find the firmware file. (dvb-usb-wt220u-zl0353-01.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more details on firmware-problems.  (-2)
...

I found the (presumably) good firmware (dvb-usb-wt220u-zl0353-01.fw) on http://www.chandlerfamily.org.uk/files/firmware/ but I can't simply copy it to /lib/firmware because this directory is 'read-only' on the live-CD...

The question is probably stupid, but, is there a simple way to handle the problem without burning a new CD?

Thank you,

xof,
Liege, Belgium.
-----------------
I installed the 'v4l-dvb' stuff (from linuxtv.org) on my Ubuntu Dapper Drake (6.06 LTS) and the firmware uploading seems OK, the LED shines and the USB Id becomes 14aa:022b. Unfortunately, I can't see any TV program yet. I don't know if it is my 'kaffeine' configuration file (a selfmade ~/.kde/share/apps/kaffeine/dvb-t/be-Liege file for channel 66 (834 MHz) I am not sure of) or if the signal is not strong enough at my place for my little antenna. Therefore, I planned to use a live-CD at a better place...

use

sudo fix-unionfs

Thank you!

This is exactly what I needed. Smilie

after doing it and copying the firmware, Kaffeine sees the DVB-T stick.
Code:

$ sudo fix-unionfs
$ sudo cp dvb-usb-wt220u-zl0353-01.fw /lib/firmware

Now, I have to check my (DVB) configuration file and find a PC where I am sure to get a good (Digital) TV-signal.

Thank you very much!
