Hallo,
ich bin absoluter Kanotix-Neuling und habe folgendes Problem:
Auf meinem Rechner möchte ich gerne folgende Betriebssytemaufteilung erreichen:
1.Windows XP - Produktiv [hda1] (wenig Veränderung - nutze beschränkte Programmauswahl)
2.Windows XP - Test [hda5] (häufigere Veränderung - Programme zum Testen installieren & löschen)
3.aktuelles Kanotix
Zunächst habe ich Windows XP Produktiv installiert, dann Kanotix(Standard-Installation, GRUB im MBR), dann Windows XP Test.
Mein Problem ist nun, daß ich im Bootmenü nur zwischen Kanotix und Windows XP Test auswählen kann, Windows XP Produktiv aber fehlt.

Wie kann ich es schaffen, daß ich beide Windows-Versionen auswählen kann und das Windows XP Produktiv automatisch nach Ablauf der Auswahlzeit startet?
Würde mich über eure Hilfe sehr freuen!

du hättest die XP's beide zuerst installen sollen, da win netterweise immer den grub überschreibt.
starte mal diew live-cd und im installer wähle die reparaturoption und schreibe grub neu in den mbr.
dann sollte es gehen.

| Auf hda5 liegt kein startbares Windows, die Startdateien ligen auf hda1. |

Devil: Ich habe den Kanotix-Installer gestartet und dort auf Wiederherstellen geklickt - letztendlich war ich doch wieder beim alten Boot-Menü, von dem aus ich nicht auf mein Win XP Produktiv zugreifen konnte.Lag wohl daran, daß die Installation von Win XP doch nicht so abgelaufen war, wie ich gedacht hätte...
towo2099: Mit Deinem Hinweis bin ich etwas weiter gekommen...Letztendlich habe ich folgende Lösung gewählt:
Auf hda1 befindet sich unter C: \ die Datei boot.ini, die ich von
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

geändert habe.Jetzt startet nach GRUB -wenn ich Windows auswähle - noch das Windows-Bootmenü, aus dem ich dann direkt zwischen beiden Varianten auswählen kann.
Dieses Problem hat sich damit für mich erledigt.

Guten Abend,
Windows schreibt die boot.ini bei der Installation immer auf die erste sichtbare Primärpartition.
Bei meinem System habe ich auf jeder W_XP-Partition eine boot.ini.
Auch Grub ist auf jeder Partition installiert.
Chainloading erscheint mir übersichtlicher. Jedes System ist von dem anderen total unabhägig!
