X-Server refused
I had the following error message after logging in as root with
su and the start of an application:
:code:root@
Pinux:/home/roen∞# firestarter
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
(firestarter:4890): Gtk-WARNING cannot open display::code:
1. Solution:
Use
sux instead
su.
The explanation, from the #kanotix IRC channel:
"<slh> sux is a wrapper for su, which also pays attention to the x11 magic cookies"
thanks to slh :-)
2. Solution:
As a logged in user:
:code:# xhost +:code:
Then su...
As new user:
:code:# export DISPLAY=:0.0:code:
Greetings, Andy ;-)
3. Solution:
In the file /etc/X11/Xsession type the following line:
:code:xhost +local::code:
Then I have automatically access, e.g. with my "root Midnight Commander", to X in the KDE console.
